This lesson introduces students to the skills needed to recognise the type of support a client may require. Students will learn how to gather information, observe client needs, listen to preferences, and consider the client’s goals, abilities, rights, culture and individual circumstances. The lesson explores how support needs can vary from person to person and may change over time. Students will build confidence in identifying when a client may need assistance, when they may be able to do things independently, and when further guidance or reporting may be required.
By completing this lesson, students will better understand how to recognise client support needs and contribute to safe, respectful and person-centred support.
